1995

Construction and commissioning of the first IZB inclubator in Martinsried

1996

Munich is one of the 3 winners of the BioRegio Competition of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung – BMBF), which led to a start-up boom.

1997

Foundation of BioM AG to meet the goals of the Munich "BioRegio concept". BioM AG begins network activities and seed financing.

2000

Region expands around the newly established "Life Science Center Weihenstephan"

2002

Commissioning of the IZB incubator at Weihenstephan
Commissioning of the western wing extension of the IZB incubator at Martinsried
Opening of the BioKids child day-care centre in Martinsried
BioM AG manages the BioM venture capital fund for investments in subsequent financing phases.

2006

Formation of BioM Biotech Cluster Development GmbH, taking over from BioM AG networking activities to promote the location as well as the cluster management of the newly formed Bavarian Biotechnology Cluster as part of the Bavarian Cluster Initiative. Both companies (AG and GmbH) are headed by Prof. Dr. Horst Domdey.

2010

The Zukunftskonzept m⁴ (m4 future concept) for the region of Munich is among the winners of the Leading-Edge Cluster Competition of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung – BMBF).
In keeping with the new approach, the Cluster now calls itself the Munich Biotech Cluster m4
Commissioning of the West II section of the IZB in Martinsried.
