Financing
Regarding corporate financing, the Munich Biotech Cluster offers decisive benefits for potential new business start-ups and young companies. On the one hand, Munich with its many venture-capital companies is the venture capital centre of Germany; on the other, research and development projects and new businesses receive substantial support from the State of Bavaria. An overview of the funding available is provided below.
Governmental Support
In August 2005, the German Federal Ministry of Economics launched the High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF: High-Tech Start-Up Fund) together with partners from industry and the KfW banking group. The High-Tech Start-Up Fund supports research-oriented start-ups with investment capital in the first year or two of their existence and makes sure that management receives the necessary support and assistance.
