PEER2SCALE-HEALTH Handbook on SME needs and how clusters can support their scaling-up process

As a result of the Peer2Scale-Health H2020 project, Bio^M in collaboration with three further leading Health Clusters (Atlanpole Biotherapies, BioWin, Life Science Krakow) produced a Handbook for European cluster managers and innovation support agencies. The Handbook outlines the needs of SMEs and start-ups, and gives examples on how to best support SMEs in scaling-up to the next business growth level. In addition to the 40-page Handbook, the consortium also produced a shorter summary in a power point presentation.

This Design Options Paper (DOP) is also an invitation to clusters and their ecosystems to conduct peer-learning actions for the optimization of regional activities. Please contact the project partners if you are interested in this topic, and share the documents with any interested parties.

Peer2Scale, an HORIZON 2020 project, is a peer-learning action between four regional health agencies acting as clusters. Eurasanté (Hauts-de-France), Bio^M (Bavaria), Biocat (Catalonia) and Lifetech Brussles (Brussels) support services to their network of health SMEs.

Peer2Scale-Health is focusing on actions to assess the quality of the partners’ services to health entrepreneurs (and young SMEs), the way they deliver these, and how to improve them or design new and common innovation support services.

Objective

The project’s objective is then to have a peer-learning action on how to raise “entrepreneurship skills” in health entrepreneurs and prepare them for their scale-up process.

Methodology

• A first exchange for a mutual learning between partners
• 3 joint workshops & experimentation:
  -> Exchanges on good practices
  -> Creative and immersive workshop
  -> Conclusive workshop
• One final deliverable is a Design Options Paper, which is outlining the findings and recommendations and which will be shared with innovation agencies.

Duration:  12 months

The project started on 01.06.2019 and ended on 31.06.2020
