Strategy

Our strategy

Within an outstanding research landscape, BioM supports the development of the Greater Munich area into one of the internationally strongest innovation and industry clusters in biotechnology and applied health research.

To achieve this, BioM identifies, evaluates and implements current topics and trends in medicine and healthcare. The aim is to provide impulses for the conceptual orientation and sustainable development of the BioM Cluster. An optimization of the framework conditions for innovation, company development and growth is needed, and BioM supports this through targeted interactions with the political, scientific and economic environment.

The strategy to further strengthen the cluster as a location for the medicine of the future is based on four pillars:

Bioentrepreneurship

Goal:  The development of the BioM Cluster into an optimal location and ecosystem for start-ups in the field of medical biotechnology, including digital medicine.

The virtual BioM start-up incubator inQlab offers comprehensive and industry-specific support for founders in the life sciences sector from the pre-seed to the growth phase. The focus lies on individual coaching & mentoring, networking, and financing.

Business Development (regional/international)

Goal:  A sustainable growth of the Bavarian biomedical industry.

BioM provides a platform for connecting with regional and international industry partners, science, clinics, investors, ministries, and politics, to enable new business relationships, the formation of interest groups and other initiatives. R&D coope-rations, business relations, and market entries are accelerated through numerous services, and an infrastructure is created also for regional partnerships. BioMs international presence attracts investments and talents to Bavaria, which contribute to a successful scaling-up of the cluster companies. Sector-specific training programs to increase skills and expertise support companies in being globally competitive.

Expertise & Human Resources

Goal: To increase expertise and skills, as well as the attraction of qualified staff for cluster participants.

A core task of BioM is to provide needs-based, in-depth expert knowledge, either through BioM trainings and events, or through access to external education and training programs. The general need for qualified staff is met by BioM’s services for job, personnel, and expert placements. The recruitment of graduates, specialists, and experts is supported also by a targeted marketing of the location with all its cluster stakeholders and various fields of work.

Location Marketing and PR

Goal: Greater visibility of the cluster participants, and highlighting the strengths of the BioM Cluster and of Bavaria as an optimal location in the health sector.

As an established center of excellence, BioM provides multimedia information about the Bavarian Biotechnology Cluster and its industry and research developments relevant to the sector. Aimed at biotechnology and pharmacy companies, scientists, founders, professionals, and investors, BioM informs about the qualities and advantages of Bavaria as a business and research location, and acts as a competent first contact in Bavaria. With targeted marketing and PR activities, BioM contributes to a greater visibility and attractiveness of the location.
