SPRIND – Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation has launched the new “Orbital Bioworks” challenge to support commercially viable biotechnology applications in microgravity. The program is looking for teams developing innovative solutions where microgravity provides a clear scientific and commercial advantage.
Key facts:
- Funding of up to €1.65M per team across two stages
- Access to parabolic flights and an orbital mission to the VAST Haven-1 space station
- Focus areas include:
- cell-free peptide manufacturing
- stem cell differentiation
- organ-on-a-chip systems
Open to startups, companies, universities, and research organizations from the EU, EFTA, UK, and Israel.
