2nd Immunotherapy of Cancer Conference itoc-2 in Munich

The congress was a fantastic opportunity for the participants - over 500 from all around the world - to share experiences and new developments as well as for plenty of networking with new contacts (more highlights in pictures). With 38 presentations, 37 posters and their accompanying abstracts which were published in the "European Journal of Cancer", at this transnational interface between "Bench and Bedside" it was possible to gain new diagnostic knowledge and find out about current research results on immunomodulatory and therapeutic strategies for the treatment of  a variety of malignant haematological systemic diseases and solid tumours. The three best posters received an accolade from the TZM again this year. The prize winners were:
1st prize: M. Sc. Laura Posselt; Klinikum der Universität München
2nd prize: Cristina-Ileana Ureche; Medizinischen Hochschule Hannover
3rd prize: Dr. Svetlana Karakhanova; Universitätsklinikum Heidelberg

With the selection of contributions on causes and side effects of malignant diseases - "microenvironment and immunosuppression" through to "targeted" addressing of tumour antigens with various cellular, humoral or chemotherapeutic treatment strategies, a wide range of topics was covered from manipulation of the microenvironment, to diverse vaccination strategies with (bi)specific antibodies or with dendritic cells, through to "cars" (chimeric antigen receptor-engineered Tcells), adoptive NK,- NKT and T-cells and monitoring of inflammatory and cellular induced reactions.

A congress report on the most important and exciting findings, and study results on new substances and strategies for immunotherapeutic and modulatory treatment of malignant systemic diseases will be included in the next edition of TZM News.
