Six selected founding teams presented their business ideas to interested investors and business angels at the 11th BioAngels Pitch Day. At BioM's exclusive matchmaking event, the potential of the life science scene with innovative ideas in the fields of drug development, digital health and medical technology was once again demonstrated.

At the 11th BioAngels Pitch Day, promising pre-seed teams and start-ups again had the opportunity to convince potential funders with an investment focus on life sciences and healthtech of their technology and business model - in just 10 minutes, with scientific data and a sound business strategy.

The business ideas were broad. With the goal of raising seed funding successfully, new solutions in medical technology and telemonitoring were presented in addition to the development of innovative drugs for the treatment of tumor diseases.

As usual, BioM prepared the founders for their virtual pitch in a separate training session. The aim was to present the business model convincingly and in a compact form. Thus, the teams were well prepared for the in-depth questions of the invited investors after the pitches.

Dr. Dieter Wolf from Manouca Biosciences explains: "The pitch training in advance was extremely helpful for us. This and the commitment of the BioM team gave us the confidence to present ourselves in the best possible way." The start-up aims to develop novel therapies against various cancers by addressing a vulnerability of drug-resistant tumors.

The team at Dymium was excited to have the opportunity to present their idea to an audience eager to invest. "The BioAngels event brought us into direct exchange with many exciting investors in a relaxed atmosphere," says Florian Ebel. The 2021 BioRegions Innovation Award-winning company has developed a technology that makes it possible to reliably remove even the smallest fragments of kidney stones.

The BioAngels pitch event was again very well received by investors. Among the newcomers this time was Hadean Ventures:

Katherine Mellis is full of praise: "We really appreciate that BioM organizes events like the BioAngels Pitch Event. As an early-stage investor, the event is a great opportunity to meet a hand-picked group of high quality companies. Hopefully, it's also valuable for the start-ups to be able to introduce themselves to a broad set of potential investors and receive outside feedback and validation on their technologies and business plans."

As part of its virtual incubator inQlab, the BioM matchmaking event helps young bioentrepreneurs find the right contacts with potential investors in the biomedical field.

The next BioAngels Pitch Day will take place in the fourth quarter of 2022. Teams that are looking for capital and would like to present their business idea in this setting can apply to Dr. Petra Burgstaller or Christina Enke-Stolle: burgstaller@bio-m.org or enke-stolle@remove-this.bio-m.org.
