At a formal ceremony at the beginning of October in Japan, the representatives of the biotech cluster organisations from Munich, Germany, and Osaka, Japan, signed a transnational biotech and life-science agreement on close collaboration between the two regions.
The partnership covers the exchange of information about new technologies in the respective regions, industrial developments and academic potential as well as the exchange of best practices in technology transfer and the support of biotech SMEs. The aim is to pave the way for industry-industry and industry-academia cooperations between the two regions.
Dr. Tadamitsu Kishimoto, President of Osaka Bio Headquarters (Senri Life Sciences Foundation, (right, in picture) said: “Both Osaka and Munich are leading Biotech locations in their own countries, so this agreement is a gain for both partners. The participation of research institutes and technology transfer organisations and the regular exchange of information will help to implement best practices quickly.”
“To be successful in this complex sector, personal contacts are absolutely essential”, said Prof. Dr. Horst Domdey, Managing Director of BioM Biotech Cluster Development GmbH, Munich (left, in picture). “The cooperation agreement will enable us to organise regular business trips so that we can maintain our personal contacts on a regular basis. This will make it easier to access interesting markets and promote collaboration in research.”
