At the joint Pitch Day hosted by BioM and BayStartUP on 18 June 2026, in Munich, selected start-ups once again had the opportunity to present their innovations to an audience of venture capital investors and business angels from the life sciences sector. The event showcased the breadth and dynamism of the Bavarian ecosystem, with topics ranging from AI-driven drug discovery and diagnostics to novel therapeutic approaches and digital health solutions.
Each team had just six minutes to clear and convincingly present their business model. To meet this challenge, the start-ups were supported with targeted pitch training organized by BioM and BayStartUP in advance. This preparation enabled them not only to deliver focused and compelling presentations, but also to engage confidently with investors during the Q&A sessions.
From the organizers’ perspective, the event once again highlighted the importance of bridging science and entrepreneurship.
As Dr. Carolin Plagmann, Head of Investor Network at BayStartUP, emphasized:
“The Pitch Day is all about translating complex science into a compelling business case. The teams demonstrated impressively how scientific excellence and entrepreneurial thinking can come together to create real investment opportunities.”
Elisabeth Harbich, Project Manager Start-up Support at BioM, added:
“Our goal is to empower life science start-ups not only scientifically, but also entrepreneurially. The high quality of the pitches shows how valuable targeted preparation and strong ecosystem collaboration are in helping teams successfully engage with investors.”
The participating teams also highlighted the value of the format.

“The intensive preparation helped us to clearly position our vision and communicate the impact of our technology in a concise and investor-focused way. The Pitch Day was an excellent opportunity to gain visibility and connect with the right partners.”
Similarly, Matthias Heiß, Co-founder of EpiCure, noted:
“The event provided a unique platform to present our approach to epigenetic therapies and receive valuable feedback from experienced investors. The interactions during and after the pitches were highly relevant for our next steps.”
The event concluded with a networking lunch, offering ample opportunity for in-depth discussions and new connections between founders and investors.
