About the course
The BioM Crash Course Biotech II (Advanced) is designed for participants with a basic understanding of biotechnology who want to build on their knowledge and explore how biotech works in practice – from scientific concepts to real-world applications and decision-making.
Through direct exchange with experts and a high-level peer group, you will gain deeper insights into the key processes and learn how developments in biotech and pharma can be understood, interpreted and discussed in a practical context.
Join this six-week program to deepen your understanding step by step, gain clarity on how drug development really works and develop confidence in navigating clinical, regulatory and business aspects of modern biotechnology.

The BioM Crash Course Biotech II (Advanced) builds directly on the foundational knowledge of BioM Crash Course Biotech I and provides a deeper, application-oriented understanding of key topics across the biotechnology value chain.
The program focuses on how biotechnological innovations are developed, evaluated and translated into real-world applications – from scientific concepts to regulatory and business decisions.
Participants will gain practical insights into:
- Advanced immunology and modern immunotherapies
- Clinical trial design and operations
- Drug development pipelines and regulatory approval processes
- Biomanufacturing, GMP and industrial scale-up
- Intellectual property, licensing and technology transfer
- Current high-impact trends such as AI in biotechnology
Participants receive a BioM Certificate of Attendance indicating the individual session topics they attended!

Session 1 – 23rd September 2026 | Topic: Immunology & Immunotherapies
This session introduces the fundamental principles of immunology and their application in modern biotechnology. You will gain a practical understanding of how the immune system can be targeted and engineered for therapeutic purposes, including antibodies and cellular therapies. It provides a strong foundation for evaluating current and emerging immunotherapy strategies.

Session 2 – 30th September 2026 | Topic: Clinical Studies & Operations
This session provides an overview of clinical studies with a focus on study design and operational execution. Participants will learn how clinical trials are planned and conducted in practice, and how data is generated and interpreted to support decision-making in biotech and pharma.

Session 3 – 7th October 2026 | Topic: Drug Development & Approval
This session explores the full drug development process from early discovery to market approval. You will gain insight into key decision points, development timelines and regulatory requirements shaping the journey from molecule to product. Emphasis is placed on how scientific, clinical and regulatory aspects interact in practice.

Session 4 – 14th October 2026 | Topic: Biomanufacturing & GMP
This session focuses on the production of biopharmaceuticals and the importance of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Participants will understand how biologics are developed, scaled up and manufactured while ensuring quality, safety and regulatory compliance. It highlights key challenges and success factors in industrial biotech production.

Session 5 – 21st October 2026 | Topic: IP, Licensing & Technology Transfer
This session provides an overview of intellectual property (IP) in biotechnology and its role in innovation and commercialization. Participants will learn how technologies are protected, licensed and transferred from research to industry. The session also highlights the importance of IP strategies in business development and investment decisions.

Additional – 28th October 2026 | In-person networking evening with keynote speaker & start-up site visit
The in-person networking evening is strongly recommended, as it is an integral part of the course. It offers valuable practical insights through a keynote session and start-up site visit, while giving you the opportunity to expand your professional network and exchange directly with experts and peers. The evening is designed to connect theory with practice, encourage discussion and reflection, and foster meaningful exchange within the BioM community.

- Language: The sessions will be held in English.
- Presentation slides: Once the speakers have given their approval, we can make the lecture slides available to participants.
- Certificate: Participants receive a BioM Certificate of attendance indicating the individual session topics they attended.
- Recordings: For data protection reasons, there will be no recordings of the sessions.
- In-person networking event: This is an optional bonus and will only take place if there are at least 5 registrations.
- Cancellation: Cancellation is free of charge up to 14 days before the start of the course. For details, please refer to our General Terms and Conditions.
- Payment: All participants registered by that date will be sent an invoice on Monday, 14 September 2026, payment required before first session.
