At BioM's 13th BioAngels Pitch Day on May 24, promising start-ups again met potential investors. Ten selected founder teams showed the great potential of the Bavarian start-up scene with their pitches to venture capital investors and business angels from the life science sector. The topics were broad: from drug development to digital health, diagnostics, cell therapies and medtech.

Emerging pre-seed teams and start-ups presented their technology and business model to potential funders with an investment focus on life sciences and healthtech at the exclusive matchmaking event. Ten minutes had to be enough to convince the potential financiers - with scientific data and a sound business strategy.

The project ideas were diverse. With the aim of successfully attracting funding, innovative developments of drugs for the treatment of tumor diseases as well as novel approaches in the field of digital health, diagnostics and medtech were presented.

BioM again prepared the founders for their pitch in a separate training session. The business model had to be presented convincingly and in a compact form. Thus, the teams were well equipped for the critical questions of the invited investors.

After the pitches, the subsequent networking lunch provided an additional opportunity for further personal discussions.

Dominique Doyen, co-founder of Tuari Therapeutics was pleased to have the opportunity to present at the BioM BioAngels Pitch Day: "For us as an early-stage start-up, the BioM BioAngels Pitch Day is a valuable opportunity to present our therapeutic approach and our business model to selected investors. The competent support from the BioM team helped us a lot." Co-founder Dr. Svetlana Hamm added, "This also meant that we were well prepared for the questions after our pitch. The interest of the investors was a great confirmation of our work." The start-up focuses on the treatment of KRAS-dependent tumors.

Cédric Barra, Senior Investment Manager at Occident Group was excited about the event as well: "We try to see innovations as early as possible and thus be as close to the teams as possible. An event like the BioM BioAngels Pitch Day helps us enormously to achieve this goal. We especially appreciate the good pre-selection by BioM and the excellent quality of the teams."

Dr. Petra Burgstaller, Head of inQlab at BioM stated, "We are very happy to bring together young emerging start-ups with the right investors through our event. We are looking forward to the upcoming success stories of these teams with such diverse approaches in the field of biomedicine."

As part of its virtual start-up incubator inQlab, the BioM matchmaking event helps young bioentrepreneurs find the right contacts with potential investors in the biomedical field.

The next BioAngels Pitch Day will take place on November 28, 2023. Teams that are looking for capital and would like to present their business idea in this setting can apply to Dr. Stephanie Wehnelt: wehnelt@remove-this.bio-m.org.
