Biotechnology trade mission to China

The ever-growing biotechnology and pharma sector in China holds enormous potential as a market of the future. An ambitious government innovation strategy, huge research and production capacities, well-trained scientists and a high interest in collaborating with European colleagues, make China a promising destination for Bavarian biotech companies.

BioM and Bavaria International will be travelling to China with interested companies in May 2012. The focus of the trip will be the ChinaBio Partnering Forum in Suzhou near Shanghai, an international partnering fair co-hosted by E.B.D.

Visits to Shanghai and Beijing are also on the agenda, including meetings with Chinese companies and – if of interest – market access facilitators or distributors, as well as visits to the huge science parks Zhangjiang in Shanghai and Zhongguancun in Beijing. The programme will be tailored to the needs and wishes of the Bavarian companies joining the mission, with BioM organizing the business meetings and company visits and Bavaria International in charge of logistics and a designated booth at the ChinaBio Partnering forum.

Doing business in China can be both a success and a challenge. Some general and also biotech sector-specific training in adequate business and cultural skills can be invaluable. Therefore, BioM will organise a cultural workshop in Munich on May 3rd, with experts sharing their knowledge about the pitfalls of doing business in China and the specifics of the biotech & pharma sector there.
