Japanese health care and pharma industry

Japan offers interesting opportunities for collaborations in various scientific fields, e.g. in protein and stem cell research. The Japanese pharma industry is immensely successful, however, with a rather limited international orientation in the past. This has changed noticeably in recent years, and Japan has started to show an active interest in cooperations, licensing deals and M&A, opening up to international partners. In addition, Japan has one of the most attractive health care markets worldwide. Our German life science companies with their innovative products and services are highly valued in Japan and benefit from a fast and sustained profitability on the Japanese market.

German companies nevertheless still seem hesitant to approach the Japanese market due to its reputation of being challenging because of complex cultural and regulatory differences.

In this seminar, initiated by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), participants will gain a realistic insight into business opportunities and potential „show-stoppers“ for German SMEs in the Japanese health care industry.

The seminar is held in English.
