Following the success of the last few years, with over 10,000 visitors, the Regensburg City Marketing event "Nacht.Schafft.Wissen 2022" once again promises exciting hours devoted entirely to science, research and innovation.  In 2022, interested visitors can once again go on a voyage of discovery and take a look behind the scenes of Regensburg's universities and companies. The Long Night of Science will offer a wide range of activities related to science, research, technology and medicine in Regensburg. On October 21, visitors can peek behind the doors of 16 locations for one night.

World market companies, such as BMW, Continental and Infineon, develop and produce in the cathedral city at the Danube. Together, these three international companies employ almost 20,000 people in Regensburg. In addition to these global players, many hidden champions are also active in Regensburg: companies whose names are less well known but which lead the market in a specialized field. At the same time, three universities shape Regensburg as a center of science.

Research and innovation in the fields of biotechnology, diagnostics and medical technology.

Also participating in NACHT.SCHAFFT.WISSEN is the BioPark Regensburg and the companies based there in the fields of biotechnology, diagnostics and medical technology. Fraunhofer ITEM offers an exclusive look into a modern molecular biology laboratory and demonstrates in an interactive guided tour how the latest technologies and innovative methods are helping to shape the cancer medicine of tomorrow. The company PreSens supplies customers worldwide with optical measurement devices. These sensor systems are used in the biotechnology & pharmaceutical industry, but also in biology & environmental research, and food & beverage industry. The Regensburg Center of Health Sciences and Technology allows visitors to "get up close and personal with technology": Telepresence in Stroke, Exoskeleton in Care, Research in Physical Therapy and Time Travel through Memory via an App. ThermoFisher Scientific GENEART supplies biotechnological research with synthetic DNA. Research is conducted with it, for example, on the production of vaccines and tests for infectious diseases (e.g. Covid19, monkeypox), new cancer therapies or industrial applications. Mikrogen develops new diagnostic test systems for infectious diseases and uses T cells for immune monitoring and personalized treatment of viral reactivation in transplantation, as well as for reliable early detection of microbial infections requiring treatment and autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis.
