On March 4, the Golden State Medal for extraordinary contributions to the Bavarian economy was awarded in a festive ceremony. The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs awarded 13 Bavarian personalities who are active in a variety of industries. Prof. Dr. Horst Domdey, Managing Director of the BioM Biotech Cluster Development GmbH and director of the BioM AG was awarded and particularly appreciated for his long service to the construction of the Bavarian biotechnology industry.
In his laudation, Minister Martin Zeil emphasized that Prof. Domdey has helped considerably to develop the greater Munich area into one of the leading biotech locations in Germany and Europe. He paid tribute to Prof. Domdey as an internationally esteemed partner and source of advice, ideas, and impulses. The Minister emphasized also his positive attitude towards this technology area: "we must not miss the future for fear of the new (...) and those driving out of the country, whose ideas our society lives on. That is why I explicitly support a responsible use of modern biotechnology".
